Halotherapy (AKA salt therapy, speleotherapy) is a relatively new therapy to the United States but has shown great success with many forms of health conditions from skin ailments such as Acne, Eczema, and Psoriasis but also a has been shown to be a great anti-inflammatory which is great for anyone who tends to get great inflammation from physical therapy or intense physical training.
The benefits of Halotherapy that which Trainerspace is most interested in is the ability to produce negative ions which can produce a “clarity effect” which is what Halotherapy is most notably known for, however, there are other great benefits of negative ions such as its ability to reduce stress, headaches, lethargy, and depression. In addition to these great benefits, negative ions can also increase one’s energy levels, mental alertness and create an overall sense of well-being.
The origins of Halotherapy started in Poland and Eastern Europe including Pakistan. The term Halotherapy, however, is derived from the Greek alas meaning “salt”. Halotherapy was first noticed with a Polish health official made an observation that most salt mine workers rarely suffered from ailments such as lung diseases or complications or colds leading people to the idea and use of venturing into the salt caves as a form of therapy which would heal or limit symptoms of many common health problems.
Modern technology replaces salt mines with machines called Halo generators which are used to crush salt crystals into microscopic particles that are then injected into a Halotherapy room or often referred to as a salt cave. These purpose-built salt therapy rooms typically have a well-controlled humidity level and temperature to create the correct environment that mimics that of a salt mine with modern day conveniences.
